Cold Weather Coffee Stops

When the weather outside is frightful, it’s tempting to hibernate like bears and wait for spring to come again. Unfortunately we can’t do that, besides there are better ways to spend your time. Here’s a list of coffee shops in The Beach, Leslieville and East York area, where you can relax with friends and enjoy the changing seasons. These quaint local hang outs make winter wonderful, and warming up easier.  Be sure to stop by and sample a hot beverage and a bite to eat.

The Beach

Tori’s Bakeshop – 2188 Queen Street East

Juice & Java – 2102 Queen Street East

Grab a latte and crepe, and cozy up with a book in this comfy little café. Hate to leave your furry friend at home?  Don’t. On sunny days you and your pet can soak up some rays on the outdoor patio.  At Juce and Java they offer a great variety of sandwiches, crepes and delicious treats to satisfy anyone’s craving. You’ll also enjoy their excellent selection of coffees, loose teas and fresh juices!


Te Aro – 983 Queen Street East

At Te Aro, they have a passion for GOOD coffee, and want to share it with you. This passion drives them to source and roast only the best coffee. They also feature the most popular brands, and if you love PILOT, you can find it here. This quaint little shop, which offers hot beverages, in-house baked goods, sandwiches, and fresh beans, is the perfect destination for a Sunday morning stop.

Brickyard Grounds – 1289 Gerrard Street East

Leslieville’s newest coffees spot is spot on! It’s located next to Greenwood Park, which makes it easy to grab a coffee and a bite to eat while out with family or friends (furry or otherwise).  In addition to coffee, Brickyard serves fine teas, Ontario beer on draught. VQA Ontario wine and yummy chef inspired recipes. Come on over!

East York

Red Rocket Coffee – 1364 Danforth Avenue

Red Rocket Coffee was originally based in Leslieville but has since relocated to the East York area. This little coffee shop is all about creating a sense of community with their customers.
